It was transformed in the 15th century by Pope Pius II, who wanted to create an "ideal city" based on humanist principles. The town is renowned for its stunning central square, the Palazzo Piccolomini, and the Pienza Cathedral. It’s also famous for its pecorino cheese and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Deruta, Your First stop at Maioliche Artistiche Tassi, where you will witness the entire process of creating gorgeous hand-painted pottery from start to finish. The colors and patterns are treasures that speak to you, inviting you to take them home!  Afterwards, lunch at Taverna Del Gusto in Deruta. Luciano, the owner, takes good care of us, and his food is de-lish!
