6 Incredible Day Trips
Assisi The majestic town of immense beauty and spiritual significance where St. Francis of Assisi was born in 1182. You will enjoy a guided tour, followed by time to explore and shop afterward. Lunch on your own at your own pace.
Cortona in Tuscany, where Frances Mayes wrote the book “Under the Tuscan Sun”. Great for strolling, shopping, museums, and boutique shops. Cortona is one of my favorite hilltop villages. Lunch on your own at your own pace. I’ll tell you where to meet me for a Prosecco Party before we head back to the villa.
Cooking class in the hills of Umbria, you will learn the secrets of Italian cooking, making four types of pasta and sauces. Afterward, enjoy the fruits of your labor on the terrace while the birds chirp and glasses of wine flow—another great day.
Deruta, Your First stop at Maioliche Artistiche Tassi, where you will witness the entire process of creating gorgeous hand-painted pottery from start to finish. The colors and patterns are treasures that speak to you, inviting you to take them home! Afterwards, lunch at Taverna Del Gusto in Deruta. Luciano, the owner, takes good care of us, and his food is de-lish!
Pienza, is a small Renaissance town in Tuscany, Italy, famous for its harmonious urban design and stunning views of the Val d’Orcia. It was transformed in the 15th century by Pope Pius II, who wanted to create an "ideal city" based on humanist principles. The town is renowned for its stunning central square, the Palazzo Piccolomini, and the Pienza Cathedral. It’s also famous for its pecorino cheese and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
**Grape Squishing offered the weeks of September 6-13, September 20-27 & October 4-11 **
You will squish grapes like Lucy! Bring your costumes! You will also enjoy a vineyard tour to learn about the wine-making process and enjoy lunch accompanied by wine tasting.
**Olive Harvest the week of October 18-25** You will experience picking olives alongside the locals and enjoy a “Harvest Lunch” with everyone. I love helping the locals pick their olives. Afterward, we will visit a Frantoio, an olive pressing plant, where you will see the process from start to finish. Your taste buds will thank you. Another great day meeting the locals.
