Enjoy the afternoon discovering the medieval town with Apericena at Caffè Poliziano Restaurant, one of Italy’s historical cafés. This ancient Liberty-style Cafè is a place of immense elegance and refinement. Generation of village inhabitants and tourists from all over the world have admired the magnificent countryside of the Valdichiana from its balcony. Tastefully and passionately restored in 1992, the Cafè has regained its former splendor with a magnificent décor “worthy of any great European capital” according to Federico Fellini, one of its first renowned visitors.

Tuesday

Full day at Perugia Golf Club. The course is located in the Santa Sabina locality, just 20 kilometers from Lake Trasimeno. Founded in 1959 and redesigned in the early ‘90s, it has an undulating course - par 71 - with rich vegetation that surrounds the fairways of many holes.

With its two towers, the Club House, located in an interesting renovated lime kiln built in 1921, provides a setting that recalls the landscapes of English course. Lunch at the golf club restaurant.

Afternoon discovering Castiglione del Lago, one of the most beautiful villages in Italy. This village of Etruscan origin rises on a calcareous promontory which was once the fourth island of Trasimeno Lake. It is part of the “Most beautiful villages in Italy” and its location on the lake offers great landscape and the possibility to play aquatic sports such as sailing, windsurf, water ski, boating, swimming and bathing.

Dinner included with panoramic views on the Lake at Landscape Restaurant 6 Divino.

Thursday

Tee time at the Lamborghini Golf Club for a round of golf and lunch in the elegant restaurant of the estate with menu composed by traditional dishes accompanied by their high-quality wines.

Afternoon discovering Città della Pieve, world-famous because it was the birthplace of one of the most famous Italian Renaissance painters, the Perugino. Perugino’s artwork is still housed in many of the city’s buildings.

Città della Pieve is noted for its beautiful red brickwork. Having no natural areas of stone, this village turned to its local clay soils for building material. This has always been a brick-making centre. Palazzo della Corgna, in the main square, is one of the few buildings where imported stone was used.

The street below might be fun to visit because it is supposed to be the narrowest in Italy and it is called Vicolo Delle Baciadonne. Baciadonne means “Kiss the Women”. This street is called this, because it is said to be narrow enough to be able to kiss the woman in the apposite window.

The layout of Città Della Pieve was completed around the 13th century and has been preserved almost intact over the centuries. The town plan has important and interesting symbolic meanings, in fact it looks like an eagle, the symbol of Emperor Frederick II, who died in 1250. Of course, this is less clear from ground level!

Dinner in the town at your own.

Friday

In the morning: wine tour and tasting at Cantina Pomario. Pomario is an organic and biodynamic winery located in Piegaro, on the hills south of Lake Trasimeno. The guided tour to the vineyards and olive trees is followed by a buffet lunch in panoramic and private terrace with organic and vegetarian sides, accompanied with all the wines. The owners of this winery descend from the Bonaparte family and have had a presence in Tuscany winemaking since the end of the 19th century.

Afternoon discovering Panicale. The historical centre has maintained its typically medieval layout intact and has two entrance gates: Porta Fiorentina and Porta Perugina.

Thanks to its location on the hills, it offers great views over Trasimeno Lake and the surrounding countryside and can be reached by a panoramic road that runs along fine live groves.

The area was settled by the Etruscan and later become a safe haven for the Roman soldiers who survived the Battle of Trasimeno, which was won by the Carthaginian general Hannibal. After the fall of the Roman Empire and after having been under the Longbards, in 1037 Panicale became one of the first Italian towns to declare themselves free and independent from outside domination.

In the XIII century it granted control to Perugia, but in 1316 it once again became free and set up its own government. The Castle of Panicale was considered one of the most important fortified structures in all of Italy and withstood any attempts at being taken until 1643, when the Florentine army conquered it during the war between the Papal States and the Duchy of Parma. It came under the control of the Church until the country united as the Kingdom of Italy.

The plan of the country made in concentric circles there is one of the most advanced systems of military defense to subsequent levels typical of the medieval period.
